Lapchi trek, the least visited remote area and exciting secreted corners of Nepal, situated at the borderwith Tibet, at 3’600 meters.

Lapchi is a famous trekking and pilgrimage site for Buddhist, since it is where the famous Tibetan Yogi Milarepa lived for a long time in a cave. Together with Mt Kailash and Mt Tsari, Lapchi is one of the three holy mountains ranges that is believed to be the holiest among mountains.

The Lapchi Kang tour is not just for the Buddhist followers. The place offers an enviable trekking
route in the high mountain region. There are plenty of pleasant sights and serenity to take in here.

The art and architecture of the monasteries and caves, the scenes of surrounding mountains and other natural formations of this high alpine region is as much a Buddhist pilgrimage as a charming destination for travelers.

    Welcome to Nepal

    Arrives in Kathmandu (1350m/4429ft), at Tribhuvan International Airport, where you will be welcomed by our local representative at the arrival gate.

    Transfer to the hotel and check in. Tour briefing after the dinner. Overnight stay at the hotel.

    Kathmandu (Sightseeing and Trek preparation)

    Breakfast at the hotel and meeting with the guide.
    Let’s start the day by sightseeing some of the UNESCO World Heritage. First, visit the grand stupa of Boudhanath; one of the biggest Buddhist stupas in the world, built in the 6 th Century.

    Then, west of the Kathmandu valley: Swayambhu, which literally means ‘self-manifest’. It is also known as ‘monkey temple’. It was built during 5th century and is one of ‘the three great stupas’ in Kathmandu valley. This stupa is erected on a small dome like hill.

    You can also visit Nagarjuna temple to the northeast side of stupa. There are several dedicated small stupas around there. Places you can see is Pratappur temple, Anantapur temple, Ajima Temple. You can see small museum as well.

    In the evening, we will discuss about your trip and introduce our trekking guide as well as other
    members. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

    Charikot (1980m)

    Breakfast at the hotel and meeting with the guide.
    Drive to Charikot.
    Lunch on-route. Dinner and Overnight at lodge.

    Lamabagar (2725m, approx. 3-4hrs drive)

    Breakfast at the lodge and meeting with the guide.

    Drive to Lamabagar and full day of rest for acclimatization.
    Lunch on-route. Dinner and Overnight at camp.

    Lamabagar to Godavari (2500m, approx. 7-8hrs)

    Breakfast at the hotel and meeting with guide. Today is the hardest day of the trek. We start from Lamabaga and straight walk to Dam side and cross wooden bridge of Tamakosi river.

    From there, steep walks as we climb up rocky wooden ladder till Chautara hill top (approx. 2.5hrs). Then, several zigzag and straight trail up till arrival at the campside at Godavari, in the open meadow.

    Lunch on the way. Dinner and Overnight at camp.

    Godavari to Thangchenpo (2900m, approx. 5-6hrs)

    Breakfast at the hotel and meeting with the guide.
    Today is an easy walk, not much climbing. Mostly trekking through a jungle of Juniper, Pine and Burch tree and some places under good meadow, till Tangchenpo.

    Lunch on the way. Dinner and Overnight at camp.

    Thangchenpo to Lapchi (3’600m approx. 4-5hrs)

    Breakfast at the hotel and meeting with the guide.
    Today we gently climb, in a comfortable way, till Lapchi Khola, crossing the Lapchi river and a climb of 20mn then easy walk to Lapchi monastery, which is as much sacred for the Hindus as for the Buddhists.

    The monastery showcases the religious and spiritual heritage in the grand architecture that is more than 400 years old.

    Also called Chura Gepheling, the monastery stands atop a tree-covered ridge that commands the impressive view of the confluence of two rivers.

    Lapchi

    Breakfast at the hotel and meeting with the guide.

    Free day for meditation and retreat at Lapchi monastery and some well-deserved rest. Lunch, Dinner and Overnight at camp.

    Shey Phuk (4600m)

    Breakfast at the hotel and meeting with the guide.
    Explore Shey Phuk peak, the highest point of Lapchi, where you find the footprints of Milarepa (a great Tibetan Master), a holy spring and Milarepa’s retreat house.

    That place has a good view over Lapchi valley, where you can see the monastery and villages of Lapchi just below you. Lunch, Dinner and Overnight at camp.

    Ramding Namgongma or Free day

    Breakfast at the hotel and meeting with the guide. Explore Ramding Namgongma for pilgrims, it is located at the border of China/Tibet and come back.

    P.S: we will have to see the situation at the time, if it is possible or not to go with local guide.
    If not, then free day for puja and meditation Lunch, Dinner and Overnight at camp.

    Breakfast at the hotel and meeting with the guide. Hike down to Thangchenpo. Lunch, Dinner and Overnight at camp.
